This last week of September has been massive in Uganda via
the Age limit bill as it was supposed to be tabled by the Deputy speaker Jacob
Olanya as the speaker was not around but it did not go well as the honorable
members of Parliament were not ready to sit when the parliament is surrounded
by Army, so the deputy speaker went on extended the parliament sitting as he
was not ready to chair members of Parliament who are not ready. After that the
opposition members went on and sang songs of success.
On Tuesday 26 September 2017 Members of Parliament rushed
for the Parliament and it reached the time of sitting when the parliament is
full with the opposition members putting on red ribbons on their heads. The
Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga presented all the proceeding but later on
it was discovered that a certain member of Parliament by the names of Ronald
Kibule had sneaked in a Gun into the parliament and that’s where the chaos
started from and the fighting of the Parliamentary members started when NRM
members are versing opposition members. This Parliament stressed the Speaker
when she was ordering the members to sit down and keep quiet but when they are
not listening.
After the Members of Parliament coming back to their normal
senses the Speaker tried to call Hon Magyezi to come and present his Age limit
bill but Hon Theodal Sekikubo asked for point of order and requested the
speaker that we should follow order as the bill for Patrick Nsamba was the
first to be presented to you now why are you putting it last but when the
speaker resisted on her point the opposition members did not allow it to
continue and the Speaker extended the sitting to the next day.
On 27th September 2017 the speaker started by
Suspending over twenty five Member of Parliaments with most population being on
opposition side who refused to listen to the Speaker’s orders and what followed
is ordering special forces command officers from state house to come and move
out these MPs by force and it did not go well as there was a constant fighting
between MPs and the Forces which resulted to an extent of Members being Injured
and some were rushed to hospitals in bad conditions.
